Southland Bass Club was formed in 1977 to hold black bass fishing tournaments. The San Diego, CA-based club has a sustaining membership of 20 anglers. Membership age ranges from 10 to 70 years old. Most club anglers are boat owners and compete alone (co-anglers are permitted). There are 11 tournaments per season with nine local (San Diego, SOCAL) and two remotes (AZ, NV, NORCAL). The club follows B.A.S.S best practices and elects new board members annually. The date and location of the following two tournaments are decided by angler nomination and vote. The flexible scheduling allows anglers to support family, work, and other obligations. At the end of each tournament weigh-in, a club meeting is held onsite to announce tournament winners, discuss SDCBC news, and plan upcoming events. Perspective anglers are encouraged to contact the Southland President or Secretary for questions about membership and upcoming events.
